BIODIVERSITY AND HEALTH OF ECOSYSTEMS SCIENCE GAMES

In this series of games, students will learn about biodiversity, why it is important to an ecosystem, and what threatens it.

Climate change presents an especially significant threat to biodiversity. In every ecosystem, organisms have adapted to the conditions of their environment. When temperatures change, it becomes increasingly difficult for them to survive. It can also create opportunities for invasive species to enter the ecosystem, robbing native species of the resources they need.

Another substantial threat to biodiversity is habitat loss and fragmentation. For example, when humans clear large sections of trees for land and lumber, it decreases the size of the ecosystem or splits it into smaller zones. This can have severe effects on wildlife, limiting access to food, water, mates, and more.

Each decision will affect four key components of the park: animal life, plant life, tourism, and money. You need to think about the impact of your choice on the four key components. Make wise choices, keep an eye on your components level, and you’ll do just fine.

As you collect animals and information, you need to avoid the predatory animals who will take your points preventing you from advancing. Beat all five levels of the game to win.
In this game, you will help Lizzy the lion to learn about biodiversity and the health of ecosystems. You will go on an outdoor adventure to help Lizzy find a new forest while also collecting meat for food. See the flashcards that appear during your adventure? This game will test your understanding of biodiversity and the health of ecosystems. As you play this game, you will be quizzed on factors that influence ecosystems. The objective of this game is to answer questions correctly and to collect enough items to bring to a science potluck party at the end of the game without running out of time.

In this strategy game, you will play as a mad scientist attempting to deliberately cause as much damage to local ecosystems as you can! Select a weapon from your arsenal of floods, droughts, ice spells and human maladies and strike a specific territory. Match the territory type with the catastrophe for the maximum amount of damage!
As you play this game you will earn information cards related to ecology, biodiversity, and ecosystems. In order to collect all of the information cards, you will need to complete a game where you have to match three items. When you get three similar items together they will disappear and new items will fall down on your screen.
You will pilot a blimp on this unique tour of biodiversity and change. Use your airship and the arrow keys to trim the field avoiding the bombs and message bottle. Get your “trap” smaller and smaller and you will be rewarded with clues that provide information. Pay attention to the clues! They will help you answer the questions at the end and get more points.
