BIODIVERSITY AND HUMANS SCIENCE GAMES
In this series of games, students will learn about the importance of biodiversity and the impact of human activity on ecosystems.
Any time humans overuse resources, it harms the biodiversity of ecosystems. To be able to use the resources we need in the long term, we must keep our ecosystems healthy and balanced.
In total, there are eight games in this learning objective, including:

You need to get the octopus back in the water by dropping boxes on top of the platform. You’ll have to use good aim and strategy to be successful with this task. Along the way, you will also answer multiple-choice questions about biodiversity and sustainability. Once you successfully complete all six modules, you will win the game!

Jump for joy as you learn about biodiversity. Hop from platform to platform to collect coins in a beautiful ecosystem. If you fall, you will be given a question to get back on your feet. There is a fact at the beginning of each level and a question to answer throughout each level. You want to try to collect as many coins as you can!

Who can be the BioMaster? You will enter a virtual board game. It’s up to you to beat the computer and get to the end of the game board with the most points. You will answer questions as they come up and learn from the information screens as you progress through the board. It will take all of your intellect to beat the computer. Good luck!

Say, “Hello, again!” to the dodo bird, an organism that went extinct many years age. In this game, the dodo will try to make a comeback based on your performance during the game. You will learn the factors that affect our ecosystems and biodiversity, and you will use your knowledge to complete a variety of interactive activities, like building a food chain and pollinating a flower.

Your goal is to develop a sustainable forest that balances the use of trees with needs of the growing population. You are directly involved with the balance of building a city and maintaining natural resources at the same time. You can unlock stars by answering questions correctly. These stars will allow you to implement ‘green’ legislation that allows your city to grow while reclaiming land used for agriculture.

Biosphere defense! In this tower defense game, you will read about biodiversity and human activity. You will learn about individual human behaviors that have a negative impact on the biodiversity on earth. You will then have to prevent the human catastrophes from destroying a species. You’ll build towers to build up defenses while different catastrophes come your way.

Peter is going to take you on a nature walk. As you travel, you’ll encounter various ecological issues, like pollution, forest fires and overfishing, that you need to resolve. You and Peter will answer questions about biodiversity and human impact on ecosystems. When you answer the questions correctly, you will help fix the problems plaguing the environment.

Welcome contestant! You are a contestant on the game show “Wildcard”. Your goal is to score the most points possible while answering questions about biodiversity and the effect humans have on biodiversity through sustainable and unsustainable practices. If you get stuck, use one of your two wild cards to help eliminate incorrect answers. Play multiple times to challenge your highest score!
