P I and Scientific Coordinator: Laura Hernández is a physicist and associate professor (MCF-HDR, Cl.Ex.B) at LPTM UMR8089 CNRS-CY Cergy-Paris University. Her research focuses on complex systems, particularly the interdisciplinary applications of Network Theory, Statistical Physics, and Dynamical Systems Theory. Her methodological approach integrates theoretical models with phenomenological studies using large-scale data, such as those from online social networks, both of which are central to the COBCOD project.

PI: David Chavalarias (DR CNRS) heads ISC-PIF and specializes in complex systems science, computational social science, and cognitive science. His research examines collective behaviors and opinion dynamics through modeling and analysis of web data. He has designed several macroscopes, digital tools that offer insights into social systems akin to how microscopes reveal biological systems. His recent book, Toxic Data – How Networks Manipulate Our Opinions (Flammarion 2022), explores the impact of digital media on democracy.

PI : Sylvain Delouvée: Associate Professor (MCF-HDR). Social psychology, conspiracy beliefs, social thinking, critical thinking abilities, and experimentation.

PI: Guillaume Deffuant (DR at Inrae) has been researching opinion dynamics since the early 2000s and has published over 20 papers on the topic. He is one of the original developers of the bounded confidence model (2000), which serves as a simple framework for modeling confirmation bias. More recently, he has explored models and experiments focused on biases related to social comparison.
